Update on the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

As many of you are aware COVID-19 also known as Coronavirus has been detected in a few individuals in America. We have been blessed in Dallas to not have many cases, but we must also be very cautious. With help from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as our own Health Ministries Director, we’re developing preventative measures to maintain a clean, healthy environment in our church.

First and foremost, we have increased our sanitizing efforts. Making sure that all surfaces are wiped down. In the areas that we expect lots of traffic we will ensure that they remain clean and sanitized.

The most important thing anyone can do right now is prevent the spread of any illness by continuing to:

  • Sanitize your hands often with soap and water (for at least 20 seconds) or use an alcohol-based sanitizer
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze—throw it away immediately after you use it
  • Cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve if you don’t have a tissue
  • Try not to touch your eyes, nose or mouth-Germs often spread this way
  • If you are ill, stay home and if needed call your doctor
  • Keep surfaces clean using disinfecting wipes
  • Check the CDC website for updates and the latest news

City Temple will have a condensed service this weekend. The staff has also agreed to join with the Southwest Region Conference and suspend all auxiliary services and programs except for prayer meeting until further notice. Please keep in mind that we are doing everything to ensure that this disease does not spread, and everyone remains safe.

Please remain in prayer and turn to the Word. Remember what the Psalmist David had to say in Psalm 91:

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.

Be encouraged! No weapon formed against us shall prosper!!
