Grief Ministries
On a hill in Galilee, Jesus taught His disciples, "Blessed
are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted" (Matt.
5:4). Grief over any loss can have a healthy effect
if it brings us to the feet of the Savior. Our sense of loss
can be good for us if it puts us among the multitude of poor
people who came to Jesus out of a need for comfort, rescue,
and blessing (Matt. 4:23-5:1).
In Romans 5:2-5, Paul underscored the positive effects that
suffering can have on us: "We rejoice in the hope of
the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our
sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does
not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into
our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us"
(NIV). We are to rejoice in suffering, not because we are
gluttons for punishment, but because it is in the midst of
struggle and pain that character is invited to mature.
It is our prayer that we can help to make your journey through
grief more understandable, bearable, and even hopeful. Let
us know how we can assist you.
