History

A sacred place to meet God is a need that humanity has had
since the time of creation. God almighty enjoys the opportunity
to meet with His creations. In the garden, in the wilderness,
in large and small groups or as individuals. God enjoys meeting
with His creatures. Our survival depends on the vibrancy of
our encounters with God. The tabernacle or meeting tent was
the original location.
The Old Testament with exacting detail chronicles the decision
to erect a Tent of Meeting as the place where Moses went to
commune with God. This place for fellowship between God and
His earthly subjects was so important that the ancient leader,
the heavenly penman, representative of God was allowed to
establish occasions during which the children of Israel were
to bring gifts of gold, fine cloth and jewels to the Tabernacle.
The present day church has the same purpose, a place of worship,
praise, fellowship with the God of creation. Matthew exhorts
us to "be a light unto the world, a city set up on hill
. . . do not be ashamed. Let your light shine before men that
they may see your good work and glorify your Father who is
in heaven."
City Temple has achieved this purpose for the past 80+ years
in the city of Dallas. Our mission is to proclaim the soon
return of our Savior and to be examples, witnesses, proclaimers
of the name of Jesus, for He said, "If I be lifted up,
I will draw all men unto myself."
